My Current Favourite Song

This is so beautiful and touching.

ARMY OF ONE

Was it really this hard
To be in your skin
To want what you wanted
Knowing you couldn’t win
Was it really this long
The road that you walked
Before you laid down
The lines around you were chalked

So Godspeed my friend
May you never be lonely again
And the enemy from whom
You always have run
Was yourself
And your army of one

You wish there was something
That you could have done
No tape to rewind and
There never was a square one
Life’s been unkind
And people are cruel
It’s just another show
You need to go beyond it
Don’t be a fool

So Godspeed my friend…

Lay down and rest
We all know you deserve it
Lay down and sleep for a while
And I know there is comin’
Some kind of change in the weather
But I’ll never see you again

Godspeed my friend
This is where you and I end
And the enemy from whom
You always have run
Was yourself and your army of one

No more shall you have to run
From yourself and your army of one
I will always remember you
I will always remember you

OK, so I’m seeing George again.

lol. I know I said I wouldn’t, but I couldn’t resist the idea of “the last ever” concert. Last big concert. Possibly last ever – for the next 20 years. At least ;)

So I got on the case and let’s just say that I’m close to the front. :D

Didn’t even make me sweat. At least not like last time. lol. No grey hairs either. ;)

George on American Idol…?

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/marc_malkin/b138263_george_michael_bringing_freedom_idol.html

At least he should be happy about being called “the biggest star in the world”…

How was George convinced?

Management: George, I have great news for you!
George: Yeah, what’s that?
Management: You’re going on… (insert dramatic pause)… American Idol
George: That’s great! No.
Management: What do you mean, no?
George: I mean… no.
Management: Why’s that?
George: Because the shows are mocking actual artists and giving them free PR for their 15 minute careers.
Management: Well, tomorrow you’ll be getting your free PR for 15 minutes too.
George: No.
Management: You want this tour to be successful, right?
George: Yes…
Management: You want to be the biggest star in the world again, right?
George: I am the biggest star in the world.
Management: Not in America, you’re not.
George: Stop rubbing it in.
Management: 50 million people vote on America Idol. That’s more people that’s voted for the President of the United States. Especially the current President…
George: 50 million people will watch me?
Management: Not quite, little girls usually vote ten times each for the cutest guy. But the good thing is, you’ll be there with two really… young and dark and – I guess – handsome guys. Artists. Singers. Men!
George: Hmmm… 50 million… I might have to get laryngitis for the occasion…
Management: You’ll get to meet Simon Cowell.
George: Are you suggesting I wouldn’t be able to meet him if I didn’t go on? Are you suggesting Simon Cowell is a bigger star than I am? Are you?
Management: You’ll get to meet Paula Abdul.
George: Listen, dude, I met that woman 20 years ago. Before she got the slur. I can’t get past the slur.
Management: Please don’t go on record saying that…
George: I’ll try.
Management: Now, about the song you’ll perform…
George: I’m not singing “Careless Whisper”.
Management: What song do people in the US remember by you?
George: Gee, I dunno, the entire FAITH album? At least? I have about half a million hard-core fans in the US!
Management: I think we can agree that your half a million fans have been slacking lately, cause your album reached…
George: Do not quote numbers at me!
Management: Would your fans watch American Idol?
George: No, they’d hate me for lowering my standards and going on that stupid show because I continually talk shit about the so-called artists on that fucking show – but hey, let’s all sell our souls and work for Satan because it’s more convenient that way!
Management: Great, show up tomorrow at 5.
George (under breath): Americans really don’t get sarcasm…
Management: And shave!
George: Goodbye!

George, a serious actor…?

George Michael to star in new Superman movie

TORONTO — Pop icon George Michael, who recently announced a North American tour for this summer, has just been given an acting role by director Bryan Singer for the upcoming Superman movie.

Michael, who shot to fame in the 1980s as one-half of the catchy duo Wham, will play one of Lex Luthor’s sidekicks, currently nicknamed ‘The Masked Spy’. The artist’s management confirms that they received the call a couple of weeks ago, after Singer spotted him in his recent cameo on ‘Eli Stone’.

“I’ve always been a fan of George Michael’s music, but I had no idea he could act,” Bryan Singer told The Canadian Press. “We wanted to introduce a camp, stylish and intelligent sidekick for Lex, someone that can challenge him intellectually. This is the 21st century and mindless assistants are so last century. We want to bring Superman into a new era.”

The 45-year-old artist is said to be thrilled.

“George has always been a fan of superheroes, he’s looked for a career change for some time now and acting has been a secret dream of his,” said Michael Lippman, Michael’s manager. “His recent role in Eli Stone has just proved what George has thought all along, that he’s actually a great actor as well as a talented singer/songwriter.”

Wham rode to the top of the charts with hits that included “Careless Whisper” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.”

Michael went on to massive success as a solo artist with songs such as “Father Figure” and “I Want Your Sex.”

George US Tour – help requested

In response to this thread, I got a comment that you guys might be able to help out with:

Hey there,

I’m a major George Michael fan here in the states and I’m soooo excited about his US concert tour. The fan club is offering ticket packages for the US tour as well. It sounds like you were really unhappy with yours. Do you wish you waited until the tickets went on sale to the general public? I’m a little skeptical because the fanclub website won’t even show me the seats or prices unless I pay to become a member. Were all the ticket packages for standing tickets? I would really really appreciate feedback. From one George Michael fan to another, I would love to hear what you have to say.

Many thanks,
Lirpa

Patrick Swayze is dying…

Read the story here.

I’m in complete… shock. I had little mini-crushes on actors when I was young (like John Stamos and Christopher Reeve) but the second I saw Patrick Swayze in “Dirty Dancing” my heart stopped, my jaw dropped and the next three years just weren’t the same. As it is when you’re 12. Sometime around the time when I was 15 some other Greek guy came along and stole my attention (and the next ten years weren’t the same…).

Anyway, and now Patrick has pancreatic cancer… they report. If it’s not true, it’s probably the sickest joke in entertainment journalism this year… And this is reported just a couple of days after Jeff Healey – that got his career started in Patrick’s movie “Road House” in 1989 – died of cancer at 41.

It’s un…believable.
