“Ban technology,” says Charles
I haven’t read the whole case, but I’ve heard enough. Prince Charles opposes himself to stem cell research, Tony Blair blasts him for his narrow-minded view – probably upsetting the monkey in charge of the US/World in the process.
Let me start with Bush. This is the guy that has an intelligence level of a retarded mouse. The fact that he’s a religious fanatic doesn’t help much either. On one hand he’s opposed to stem cell research because it’s “immoral” to use blood from umbilical chords to potentially save someone’s life. Why? Because it’s up to God who lives and who dies. OK, let’s pretend for a moment that I buy that. Does that mean that George W Bush is God’s right hand on earth, then? Considering he will happily sign people’s death warrants and put them in the electric chair? Double morals, anyone?
Now, Prince Charles. The moral hierarchy, eh? The reincarnation of Jesus on earth, is he? Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t religion value marriage, and doesn’t this involve staying true to your wife and not cheating on her for years with a woman that you later marry? Is this is the kind of man we want to define what’s morally right according to God or religion?
If we stopped spending billions of dollars on war and put those billions of dollars into medical research instead, maybe the world would have been a better place. On one end, put money towards getting thousands of innocent people killed – or put money towards helping people with incurable diseases? Gee, I wonder what sounds more valuable. Neither George W Bush nor Prince Charles strike me as terribly bright. They also strike me as weak men that hide behind their religion when they make their so-called moral decisions – when in reality it’s just the lack of intelligence that’s the reason for their uninformed/stupid decisions.
To use a couple of famous examples, take Christopher Reeve and Michael J Fox. Christopher Reeve was paralysed in the 90s after falling off his horse and breaking his neck. He died two years ago from complications of being paralysed. He fought for years to get stem cell research going in the US – he even said he would go abroad, get treatment there and walk into prison if he had to. Sadly he never made it so far. Maybe if they’d got their fingers out and allowed this research to take place in a country where they have all the technology and money to do it, he may still be with us today.
Michael J Fox has Parkinsons disease. I’ll let this video speak for itself.
Who are these religious fuckers to deny someone like him a chance to get better? I would like to see what they would say if their mother/father/sister/children got an incurable disease and could have been saved if this treatment had been available. Would they then sit down and say, “It’s God’s will that they die?” or will they – like every other normal person with any clear identifiable emotions – react by saying, “I want to do whatever I can to save them”? You wouldn’t have thought it would be that hard to put themselves in other people’s shoes – but maybe even that requires more intelligence than these people have. It makes me wonder – does religion dumb down issues by claiming they’re right because the Bible says so?
