What happened to Madeleine McCann?
OK, this is what I reckon;
The kids are left alone in the hotel room, the twins fall asleep, Madeleine can’t sleep, is upset and goes to find her parents. She leaves her bear behind, manages to get out, she runs into someone outside and asks if they’ve seen mummy and daddy. As kids do, thinking that everyone knows who their parents are. She’s taken away by this someone that maybe does/knows someone that does human trafficking and think that an English child will go for a lot of money somewhere. They take her away, saying they’ll take her to her parents, and dump her off with locals that deal in the trade. Whether she was actually sold on or maybe smacked dead when she wouldn’t stop crying… who knows.
For a while, I did tink it might be her parents. Kid wouldn’t sleep, made a fuss, gave her a sedative (after all, they’re both doctors), she overdosed accidentally, they panicked and created all this.
The only issue I have with that is that is that from the second she was gone, they had paparazzi up their arses – and they haven’t been left alone for a second. Their phones have been tapped, their emails read, their hotel rooms bugged (I’d imagine). How would they manage to dispose of a body 3 weeks later? “Yeah, we’ve got this relatively smelly bag that might look a bit like a child that we’re going to dump in this river. Never mind us!” The media, in general, are clearly banking on the fact that they’re guilty, treating it as the Ian Huntley case (giving him enough rope to hang himself) and eventually he did. But how would they be able to dispose of anything?

I don’t think the parents did it. I think the child was kidnapped by human traffickers and sold into white slavery. It’s really disturbing to think about isn’t it? Those poor parents.
Oh my….. What the parents are going through must be…..GOD…. I can’t even put into words… I do feel for the parents though…. to have their child killed or murder, or kidnapped… It is something I can’t even fathom or comprehend! I truly hope who ever did this to the child will be caught!
I’m sorry but I have NO sympathy for this family at all. They left their babies ALONE in a hotel room while they went off to enjoy their dinner (I haven’t followed the case much, this is the gist of what happened I think?). I don’t think the little girl has been sold into slavery at all. I think the usual has happened to her…some paedaphile (sp?) has got hold of her, done whatever to her, murdered her and dumped her body in the Portuguese or Spanish wilderness. In Spain certainly, they have proper wilderness areas, with proper wild animals, wolves, lynx etc, that would soon dispose of that poor baby’s body.
Sorry to sound harsh…but I think the parents should be arrested and charged with child neglect at the very least.

I am with Caff on this,why on earth they thought it was all right to leave their own children alone in a room at night, what if one of their children woke up and needed to have a glass of water or had a nightmare and wanted their mum, me, I don’t have children but I would have never left alone a child at night, they took a chance, I am afraid to say that I feel that the baby is dead and maybe there is still a lot to be found out .
Yes, both Spain and Portugal have PROPER wilderness…that’s why we (portuguese and spanish) have so many tourists, and as far as I know there wasn’t one stone left unturned by the police in the Portuguese wilderness… I can tell you that if instead of a british couple they would be just a regular portuguese couple spending holidays at the algarve, they would have been arrested right away for negligent conduct towards their kids! But, well, they’re Brits, they’re tourists and they have friends in high places… and all this media circus just makes me sick. In my point of view Maddie could be alive (just like that kidnapping in Austria, the one the girl escaped from the kidnapper at 18 years old) or not… Wherever she is, whoever got her, whatever happened to her, hope God’s taking care of that poor lovely child… I just wish she came back to end this story, cause we’re sick of the media, we’re sick of being worried, there’s no other subject of conversation in this country, and I would like people to stop accusing portuguese police because I don’t think they’re that bad… As for the police silence… given the media circus worlwide proportion, you know that in fact I’m starting to think that was the cleverest attitude?
It’s a very weird case. Statistically, you would have to say the parents are the ones that did this. However, given the McCann’s behaviour – they have been the ones pushing for the investigation to continue – it seems unlikely in this case. So, I guess the little girl was snatched by a third party. I think there’s little chance of her being found now – dead or alive.
One big takeaway for me is that Portuguese police have come out of this really badly. There are supposed to be laws in Portugal that mean the police keep all details of cases secret. However, they have systematically leaked information to the press. Furthermore, they leaked information that showed they are almost totally incompetent.
For example, in their leaks, they massively overstated the quality of the forensive and other evidence to support what were ridiculous theories about “what happened”. This, despite the fact that even the most casual observer could work out that the forensic evidence could not possibly be what the police said it was; and also could work out that the theories they were proposing could not possibly be correct.
Not only were the theories ridiculous; they changed completely on a day to day basis. One day, the police were working on the assumption that the mother was a deranged lunatic who got the idea to murder her child from reading the Bible. The next day, they thought that she had killed the child by accident. Then, one day, they thought that the parents hid the body in a bag for five weeks, then casually drove it somewhere in a car dump it.. Another day, they thought that they had conspired with at least two other people to get rid of the body by throwing it out at sea from a borrowed boat.
Clearly, the Portuguese police have no clue what happened to the girl.
What struck me as well the behaviour of both parents, I don’t know, if it was my child I was so devastated that I would always be in tears, always with tears in my eyes even if I had to face an interview for the BBC , they could not stop me from crying my eyes out, instead I have never seen tears in their eyes, they have always shown to be in control of their emotions, this is not good , for me, it gives me a sense of uneaseness.

Whatever you call Police Leaks I can call Media Imagination and starving for audience / readers / profits… ok? Or you only question the media when it’s gossip about George? You know as well as I and everybody else does that they can come up with things they make up on their own minds and call it a leak… and teh editor goes along with it because it’s guaranteed money on their pockets. I’m telling you, this makes me sick. Really. This is not or ever will be what I call JOURNALISM.
I’ll never forget the SMART Girl……..Elizabeth Smart………the rescue searchers were so close to finding her and turned back …..and then for MONTHS and MONTHS they did nothing but focus on the Parents……….and the girl turns up like 9 months later…..the parents totally innocent…..all the other “leads” NOT followed. How do you explain this incompetence? Are our police and investigators really that STUPID and NARROW HEADED ? It still disturbs me……if I was Elizabeth I’d walk into the local police dept. with a Can of WHOOOP ASSS and a strap on and some lube for those guys and ask them how THEY LIKE IT ? Oh and I’d strap on a smelly beard like that freak had on that abducted her ! Sorry…….gotta go……gettin’ stomache cramps now…
I completely understand some of you guys feel like the parents shud be arrested for leaving their child alone.. I can see why you would say that… Really, I can.
I truly hope for the parents sake that ….THEY wouldn’t HARM their OWN CHILD or put their child in any sort of danger. I don’t know much about the case… to be a parent is a lot of responsibilty to care for a child. I would know, I am a parent myself.
If I would them…….I would try to prove my innocences, MOVE heaven and EARTH to find them … If I can prove my elf innocent that I wouldn’t put my child in any danger.
Yes… BAD on them for leaving the child alone…. That’s called bad parenting… Unfortunetlly (s.p) they made a mistake…
But…..
If they are guilty????!!!! Throw them in the dungeon and throw away the freaking key!

I am so confused, I have followed this case from the beginning.
At first I was sure the parents had something to do with it, now I am not sure.
The thing that has always seemed odd, no tears!
I thought the Mom always looked guilty, as if she knew what happened to Maddy.
And then I thought, maybe her death was an accident.
Interesting, and so puzzling.
Why would you leave your babies on their own in a strange place?
I believe she (Maddy) was playing up, smacked dead, not deliberately and they are covering it all up.
One day it is going to get too much for them and confession would be the best thing they could do. They will realise that what they are trying to protect will one day become irrelevant. Them and their professions Dr this and Dr that
They may even commit suicide after confession. They have nerves of steel.

I am really saddened that it’s almost a year since Madeleine McCann disappeared. I do not believe that the parents had anything to do with it, steely appearance in public or not. Many people show emotions in different ways. Some cope by shutting down and numbing themselves, so that could come across as ‘cold’ or unfeeling. Others cry hysterically and need sedation. People are all different. Remember, none of us were there to see Kate and Gerry’s reaction when Madeleine went missing.
The idea of them staging this whole campaign and fight for a UK wide Amber Alert system to cover their assumed guilt, is not plausible. Who would go to those extraordinary lengths to keep up a charade of such diabolical proportions?
How on earth could they have carried around a body in the boot of their rental car for 3 weeks without anyone noticing any stench? (sorry for the explicitness) The world’s media were tracking their every move.
I think there are two possible scenarios that seem plausible. 1): Perhaps a lone predator sees the family down at the beach one day. He is immediately drawn to Madeleine for whatever depraved reason. He follows them back to the resort, without their knowledge and is able to spy on their comings and goings, and he plans out his moment of opportunity. While they are out at dinner, he strikes quickly and quietly. Perhaps Madeleine stayed asleep while he abducted her and that’s why there was no noise. The horrible part of this is what he may have done to her. Statistically, sexual predators usually carry out their vile act and then murder their victim shortly after.
I cannot see him keeping her for any length of time once his ‘fantasy’ or whatever was met. The same goes with paedophiles. I do not think they would risk getting caught by keeping her for any length of time. That is where the publicity may have not been in her favor.
The second scenario is where Madeleine wanders out to look for her parents. What if she fell into a well shaft or some other place that could conceal her body and any cries for help? Remember the kid in the states that fell down a tiny little pipe when she was only 2? Her name was Jessica McClure (sp?) Now I’ve read the searches were extensive etc but there is always a possibility that something was overlooked. Could she have made it to the beach? Possibly. My parents tell me when I was 3 I went missing during a vacation. They found me just at the edge of the beach about to go in. I had ran a huge distance to find this beach too. So, kids can do things you wouldn’t think possible. It’s unlikely with this case, but there are always possibilities.
I fear she will never be found. Those poor parents may have to live their whole lives in limbo, wondering what happened to their beautiful little girl. Yes, they shouldn’t have left the children alone. But remember, there were at least 4 other couples doing exactly the same thing that night. If you are going to condemn the McCanns you might as well include the names of the other people in the group. They were just lucky enough to escape tragedy. I don’t understand why some people have no empathy for them. They are human. Humans are selfish. Humans make mistakes. What they received for their lack of judgment is so harsh, so brutal and incomprehensible… how can we say ‘they deserve it?’ How can we want to do that to people who are suffering? Yes Madeleine suffered too, I realise that. She was too young to understand what was happening and I hope to God that if the worst did happen, that it was quick and that she is out of any pain now.
There is no happy ending for this poor family. Just pray for them and Madeleine.
youre theory is interesting and there are yet some stuff to explore that your media doesnt
1- the mccans said on oprah that portuguese police closed their file… wrong. The mccaans gave the order for both portuguese and english police to archive the case.
2- why no one went to the church in praia da luz is beyond me, the parents had a key and could go there under the priest’s consentment, at ANY TIME, DAY OR NIGHT.
3- Did you know that maddie’s teddy bear that the mother carries with her, had necro smell on it?
Did you know their car, had dead smell and maddie’s blood was found on it, about 1 or 2 months after maddie’s went missing, and they didnt rent that car until that week? You get a car today, how does it have the blood of a girl missing 2 months ago? hmmm
The media, etc to me is just the parents wanting attention and gathering all money possible for their kids, and so that the public in general dont crucify them as they have been until now.
Why didnt Gerry come here to do a recap of what went on, when the police asked him, but came 2 years after, for a tv show?
They had an accident and the baby died. period.
i think that the parents should be taken i mean who would leave their kids alone to go and have dinner?

I have recently been on holiday wiyh my two children, I cannot for the life of me figure out how u can leave ur kids alone in a foreign country should be jailed for that and have the other kids taken off them if they were on the dole and low lifes they would have been investigated by child welfare.
No tears gives it all away for me i would be walking the streets of portugal now.
