Allow me to mention the interesting (and not so interesting) ones. The rest can be found here.
4. Robbie Williams – I think he’s good fun, but the 4th most wanted in the world?
11. David Beckham – please, are anyone interested!?
17. Elton John – this one I get.
24. Paul McCartney – what did he do in recent years besides marrying a one-legged x-prostitute?
47. Brad Pitt – I see they give out honours for being boring now…
49. David Hasselhoff – I just had to include this to show who beat both George and Kevin.
52. Kevin Spacey – not bad.
54. George Clooney – Kevin beat George Clooney. Really not bad!
55. Kate Moss – and Kate Moss.
59. Angelina Jolie – and Angie!
63. Jade Goody – this is where George should be pleased… Jade Goody is more popular than him. lol.
79. Paris Hilton – and Paris.
81. Jordan – and Jordan.
83. Cilla Black – not to mention, Cilla. lol.
88. George Michael – aw, well, at least he’s on it.
94. Geri Halliwell – but not far enough from Ms Voice Like Thinning Hair.
Who makes these lists anyway?
George Plays NY Eve?
Apparently George has received $5million to play a gig in Moscow for 500-1500 people. On New Year’s Eve. For “a company”. Who can afford five million for a 2 hour concert? An hour fifty if George cuts out “An Easier Affair” and “Last Christmas”? I can see it now.
- I’m really happy to be playing here for the Russian Government tonight. I’ve been asked backstage to cut out any songs with any sex, anger or subtle offensive meanings or words in tonight’s set, to avoid getting poisoned on my way out, so I’m down to one song. Here’s “Careless Whisper”. Greetings Putin!
If I was George I’d be apprehensive about doing an encore of “Shoot The Dog”… then again, neither are huge fans of the Bush man.

Happy Christmas
Well, I guess I should wish y’all happy Christmas ‘n’ all that.
So happy x-mas
Maybe… next year…

Radio Ga-Ga Cover
I told you previously that Jan Werner (the Norwegian artist that died) was a candidate for a Queen album/tour. This is why:
Live from around 2003. He was asked about the rumour of a Queen album and a tour, and if he said yes and he joked, “Weeeell, it would obviously depend on which day they were planning on doing it. I’d have to check my schedule…” then adding, “Of course, but I’ve been in this business for over ten years so I’m hardly basing this on what I’m planning on doing for the rest of my life…”
Not sure what happened to the album/tour, but he was offered the lead role in “We Will Rock You”. He was otherwise committed, so couldn’t do it. Shame.

So, where’s the praise?
Whatever it is George had last week, I’ve got it. It’s like my body resisted all week, knowing I had to be able to stand on my own for 5 concerts – but as soon as that was over, I got what seemed like a head-cold on Monday morning. Which proceeded to becoming a light flu yesterday when I had to get on the plane – and today I can’t even get up on my own. Skin aching, hot/cold flashes, generally feeling like two sacks of shit. I mean, my hair hurts. So I do hope George is feeling better than I am right now.
Now, what I really wanted to say was this: Where is the praise for George now? The press are very good at knocking people down if they happen to do something stupid – but what about some praise when they actually do something right? As far as I’m aware, there hasn’t been any mention of the fact that he a) didn’t pull out of one single gig and also added an extra date. I was wondering why the hell that was at first – but I think it was to give his fans a chance to get up front for one final gig. Which was nice. To say the least. But where’s his praise? I suppose we’ll never read “We were wrong, George Michael actually did pull through. We’re surprised, but now we take our hats off to the man. Well done!” in any of the British papers any time soon
I don’t know if I believe this rumour about Andrew pulling out due to nerves. Sounds like they’ve been looking for another reason to knock him. (What else is new?) The fact that this is according to The Sun doesn’t help. It would have been great to see Andrew there – but to be perfectly honest it wouldn’t have made that big a difference to me. Sure, it would have been nice, but I’m not deadly disappointed. If so was that he got stage fright, who can blame him?
Anyway, I’m still on a high. Woo!

Wembley Arena, Sunday – The Final
Well. Well. WELL! It’s 6:01am on Monday 18th as I’m writing this, after about four hours of sleep and a gazillion dreams/reliving Sunday 17th. What can I say, I mean, I’m still in shock. LOL! Any closer and I’d practically be sitting on his face. As you can see from some of the pictures below. When looking at them, by the way, keep in mind that it’s not that easy taking pictures of a man that doesn’t waste any time standing still. Especially when you’re in the process of thinking, “Any closer, mate, and I’ll climb up there to ya.” lol. (Yes, I’m officially twelve again…) Also, the fucking delay on the digital camera fucked up some great shots.
Anyway, he started by reminding us that we were at the last gig, that it had been 49 shows and this being the last one was quite sentimental for “us on the stage”. (What do you reckon it was for us?)
So, the audience… insane. Especially where we were sitting/standing. I’ve never encountered such madness and screaming and whatever else. It was like bloody Elvis was up there, and we were a bunch of teenagers from the 50s. In that respect, I think I (we) did very well – all we did was gawk innocently (ahem) at him when he would come over to our side (which he seemed to be all the time), exchange “oh holy Jesus” looks and *waving hand over face to stop overheating*. So I didn’t go insane, but I did feel like I was twelve, seeing my favourite popstar in concert for the first time. Yeah, it felt like the very first time. We were placed just in between the end of the stage and the platforms on the side, so we got the best of both when he came to the ends and sang to us. And man did he come there a lot. (Could have something to do with the fact that Paul McCartney was sitting just above our heads, I suspect – but he (George, not Paul) was standing by us a lot, grinning, smiling, pointing at random audience members…)
I couldn’t even begin to tell you which song he performed without his glasses, but at one point he apologised for blowing his nose and simply came back without’em. It was beautiful (“…it was, and you know it. Mmmh!”), he looked stunning, never sounded better ever and though still had his little cold you couldn’t tell if your life depended on it. He said – at some point – that even though this may be the last show for now, because of how great this tour had been, it would be happening again very soon.
As far as set-list, it included all the usual ones, including “My Mother Had A Brother” (and “the fuckers at Fleet Street” speech), “An Easier Affair” and… behold… “Last Christmas”. No Andrew, though. What he said was, “I’m doing a song for you that I hate performing, because I love you.” Or something to that effect. Seeing him walk around with “snow” in his hair was just adorable, seeing him standing in front of us getting snowed down – up close – was even better. When he demanded the lights came on and he took his sunglasses off, praising us all… I was practically on cloud 4719. After “Freedom” he practically ran off the stage – very quickly – and looked highly emotional.
Walking away – with confetti in places no confetti has ever been before – was emotional for all of us. A mixture of “I can’t believe that” and “it was the last fucking show – now what?” was filling the areas in and around the arena. My feet were hurting like hell after standing up for two hours straight, my ears were ringing, my back was aching like a bitch, I’ve DEFINITELY caught his cold – and yet I don’t think I could feel more fulfilled. It was beautiful, it was, and he knows it – but he’s not wasted here, cos he’s a star.
Until next time – check out the pictures.
Wembley Arena, Friday
I’ve seen this thing from just about every angle now – including yesterday’s as-far-up-and-back-as-humanly-possible. I was practically in need of oxygen, way back there – on my own – with Evelyn on the phone for about half the show. (It’s all about spreading the word/voice!) He said that he still had quite a heavy head-cold, “but that didn’t make any bit of difference yesterday. And what’s a bit of snot between friends, eh?” lol.
I’m running out of things to say about this show, but I was still enjoying it. Even though if I was any further back I’d be out in merchandise. It was great to see the audience from the back-view. Kinda the reverse of what he sees every night. He sounded/looked/danced as well as usual – as he pointed out, his little cold didn’t make any bit of difference. It makes me wonder who this new person is and what happened to the other guy. George suddenly goes onstage with a cold and wouldn’t dream of cancelling a concert? Who is this man? Whoever he is, don’t bring the old one back. lol. We like this one A LOT.
I still think Thursday was the best ever – I’m not entirely sure it was due to me being a) on my own and b) in better seats on Thursday, but I had even better seats on Tuesday and still Thursday was exceptional. I did notice one thing: The “Outside” helicopter says: “LAPeeD” instead of “LAPD” which is rather subtly funny. lol. I’m warming to the fact that I recognise him now, from the person I met 3 1/2 years ago now. For a while, in restrained interviews and so forth (esp during the “Patience” PR run), I didn’t recognise him as the person I met, but now… he’s so back. This past week in particular has just been so enjoyable, cause he’s given more of himself than before. Since, I think, ever. It makes me like and respect him even more, for he now really is himself – instead of building up under the person the press like to think he is.
I still think that little child-like smile is so endearing that I find myself smiling broadly every time he prompts us to sing along, we do – even more/louder than he had anticipated – and that “I can’t believe this – this is so amazing” smile comes out, accompanied by those shiny eyes. His whole personality seems to be 110% relaxed, and I honestly believe he’s loving every second of this. Makes me wonder, maybe he’s thinking like the rest of us: After Sunday… then what?
Wembley Arena, Thursday
Wow, yesterday sure as hell was the best I’ve ever seen him. He came out and admitted that he had a cold (that should teach him not to go to the Heath in the middle of flippin’ winter – lol), so not to blame his soundman if he sounded odd. It went a bit like this; “I have to say this for the rest of the tour now, but I’ve got a pretty bad cold. So If I sound a little odd tonight, don’t blame my soundman” (audience: “Aaaaw”) “In the old days I would have cancelled” (audience: “Booo”) “But back then I was just a boy” (audience: “LOL!”) “And after the reception I’ve got after 45 gigs around Europe, I never would even consider cancelling a show now” (audience: “WOOOO!”).
This made up for an absolutely hysterical moment. If he hadn’t said he had a cold, it would have sounded like he was highly emotional, but knowing that he had a runny nose, it just made it too funny for words. “Jesus To A Child” came on, and he went – as usual – “This one’s for Anselmo” then added the most hilariously loud *SNIFF* accompanied by his finger run under his nose. I happened to be recording this song (yeah, so sue me!), listened back to it at the hotel and was LITERALLY rolling around the floor, laughing my arse off. It was absolutely adorable.
It also has to be said, if THIS is what he sounds like SICK then I’m afraid to hear what he sounds like when he’s 100%. Cause, Jesus, yesterday was exceptional in every which way. His dance moves, his cleavage getting even deeper, his adorable little sniffs, the most endearing little smile every time he reached out to the audience and we sang back to him was just… (By the way, I feel my age kinda decreasing by every gig I’m going to now – by Sunday I’ll be disappearing into a big orgasm).
During “Careless Whisper” the audience was so loud, singing over him, that he started giggling as he was attempting to sing, and it just made everyone go “Aaaaaaw!!!” He was on SUCH good form, even though he was sick. In the end, after “Careless Whisper” he came running back out on the stage and did the boom boom into my heart thing with his hand, said we’d been absolutely fantastic/incredible and I love you!! He also said, “I was really nervous about coming on tonight, cause I’ve never performed with a cold and I was feeling rather crap when I came on here, but now I feel absolutely fucking FANTASTIC!”
And he sounded rather fucking fantastic too. Jesus. If it gets better than this I don’t know what I’ll do. Good thing I’m far in the back tonight. lol. Yeah, I’m practically out in the fountain. At least I’ll hear’im.
PS I’ve caught a bit of a cold myself. It wouldn’t be half as annoying if I’d been close enough for him to give it to me (ahem, so to speak) but yesterday I was quite a bit back. Coulda caught it on Tuesday tho
lol
Wembley Arena, Tuesday
Well, I had the best fucking view *ever* last night. We were right on the side of the stage, overlooking every move. Everything was just downright a-fucking-mazing! George was in a VERY good mood it seemed, and the audience connected with him (and he connected with us) about a hundred times better than Monday. Seems like he was set on not cocking up the lyrics again, cause yesterday he pretty much made it through without any major mishaps. The voice was just… (insert any praising word).
During “Jesus To A Child” I thought he was going to stop halfway through, cause he was so emotional, kept drying his face (sweat?) and his voice hardly held up. He looked positively pained. It made me all teary-eyed. He cut out “My Mother…” tonight, no speech about what a(n incredibly) happy gay man he is either – maybe cause family (at least Jack) was there? (We saw him in the lobby afterwards, taking pictures with some fan.)(What the attraction of that is, I’ll never know, but nevermind.)
The man has some new moves. I tell ye… whether he’s been practicing in front of the mirror or been seeing a dancer lately… whatever it is, keep doing it, cause during various songs it got *very* hot up in s5. It was six of us (four hard-core fans and two dragged along for good measure)(though they got really into it as well!)(even my closeted George-fan-friend had to give in and get to her feet – this is the one claiming not to be a fan and yet comes with me to Barcelona to see the man) and we exchanged knowing looks now and then. Alongside, “Did you SEE that!?” I feel like I approach my teenage years rapidly by every gig I go to.
(Now they’re playing “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” in the internet café. “But say a prayer… pray for the other ones. At Christmas time-ah…”)
No “Last Christmas” for whatever reason, but “An Easier Affair” was thrown back in. I tell ya, the look on his face when the audience sang back to him (massively on the Wham! numbers in particular) was that of a young boy just being given attention by the girl (or boy) he fancies or being given praise in front of the class by the teacher. He was positively beaming and smiled so adoringly that I found myself going “Aaaaw!” more times than I care to count. My friend (the non-fan) said, dryly, “So it seems like they’re happy to see him, then…!”
Indeed. In-fucking-deed.
(And now they play “Wake Me Up” on the radio)
